Delving into the intricate process of creating a typeface was an opportunity that I eagerly embraced. My goal was clear: to develop distinctive letterforms that possessed a sense of individuality, consistency, and character. LemonLime, my chosen typeface, represents a modern interpretation of a classic serif font, drawing inspiration from the captivating Northwest Arkansas region.

My journey began when I stumbled upon a remarkable artifact—the 1901 Monthly School Report Card from Rogers Public School. This historical document became the foundation of my font design, with the primary heading, 'Rogers Public School,' serving as a starting point for my creative exploration. Even though approximately half of the alphabet was missing from view, I embraced the challenge of creating the remaining characters from scratch, determined to pay homage to the rich history of the region.

As I carefully examined the report card, I noticed the presence of three different fonts, a captivating combination of Serif and Sans Serif styles. It was the bold yet balanced composition of the primary header, 'Rogers Public School,' that caught my attention and ignited my imagination. The font exuded a timeless elegance, evoking a sense of class and sophistication that could easily find a place in contemporary design. Inspired by this, I set out to craft a typeface that would transcend the boundaries of time, making it both striking and incredibly usable within my design style.

Working from a local artifact dating back over a century was an exhilarating task. It allowed me to immerse myself in the rich history and cultural heritage of the Northwest Arkansas region. Through LemonLime, I aimed to capture the essence of this storied past and communicate it through the intricate curves and shapes of each letter. The result was a versatile typeface capable of seamlessly blending tradition and modernity, reflecting the refined yet playful appearance that defines LemonLime.
The creation of LemonLime is merely the beginning of my journey as a typeface designer. I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the countless iterations that await me in the future. With each new design, I hope to further refine my craft and explore the boundless possibilities that lie ahead. The 1901 Rogers Public School Report Card has served as a wellspring of inspiration, propelling me forward as I strive to leave my mark on the world of typography
